Throughout the life of the Modern Day Church that has spanned from the 19th to the 21st centuries, there have been a variety of trends that have proliferated in our Lord’s Church from clothing styles to feminine hair styles among male pastors to worship styles to non-scriptural catch phrases and non-spiritual titles that are projected in such a way as if these trends have been approved by the Holy Spirit.

As a result of most congregants being biblically illiterate, many leaders do not make a distinction between “trends and truth” but in fact help to promote the trends to keep congregants ignorant to retain their attendance and financial contributions which is an indictment against their alleged spiritual leadership.

The global pandemic of 2020 “caught the church with its pants down” in many respects particularly in the African-American community. Much of its entertainment, showmanship, false prophecies, and theatrical performances defy scriptural purity and the Holy Spirit’s demonstration came to a screeching halt. With the lack of evangelism and healthy doctrinal teaching, many church pastors spent more time preaching a “fearmongering gospel” and exhibited no faith in God’s healing power. Many vested more faith in masks, social distancing, and vaccinations than the Word of God. Many African-American congregations have not recovered. There were some churches that closed never should have been opened in the first place. In recent months, there are even “so called pastors” who use expletives, obscenities and vulgarities from the pulpit toward congregants. Things are spiraling out of control. Paul the Apostle said it best in II Timothy 3:5 “Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”
